Altior Law attorney Jennifer Grieco was recently selected to serve as a cooperating attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan in connection with the November 3, 2020 general election. In this role, Jennifer helped spearhead efforts to ensure local governments were in compliance with legal requirements for registration and access to voting. Of note was Jennifer’s assistance in a lawsuit filed against the City Clerk for the City of Detroit, Janice Winfrey, to require the city to process tens-of-thousands of backlogged mail-in ballots in the weeks leading up to the general election. With Jennifer’s assistance, that lawsuit culminated in an agreement with the City Clerk for the City of Detroit to clear up the backlog of absentee ballots and to make certain that incoming applications were processed within 24 hours as required by law. News coverage of this lawsuit and its resolution can be read here.
Altior Law thanks and commends Jennifer for her volunteerism and dedication to helping to secure compliance with election laws and Michiganders’ access to vote.
