Jennifer Grieco, Founder of Peak Law recently recorded two new and powerful episodes of the Black Law Matters podcast.
Wayne County Probate Court Judge Terrence Keith relayed the history behind the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association in Oakland County in 1990 as its founder father and the association’s efforts to have the first African American judge appointed to the Oakland County Circuit Court. While encouraging listeners to revisit and be knowledgeable of the country’s history, Judge Keith gave a passionate plea for equality for all people. You certainly want to listen to the end of this episode!
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of REE Automotive, Angelique Strong Marks delivered another thought-provoking episode as she challenged the notion of white lawyers acting as “allies” to the African American community as well as the efforts of well-intended diversity committees. She was also brutally honest in her analysis of the insurrection at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. While these discussions are tough, they are necessary for those of us in the majority to truly hear the struggles and experiences of our fellow members of the bar.
Both podcasts can be streamed for free on the podcasts page of the Peak Law website or on Spotify by searching Black Law Matters.
