Neuman Anderson Grieco McKenney partner Jennifer M. Grieco has been sworn in as the 84th president of the State Bar of Michigan on September 27, 2018. Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Stephen J. Markman presided over the ceremony, which took place in conjunction with the SBM NEXT Conference at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.
Ms. Grieco will lead an organization of over 45,000 members that works to improve the administration of justice, promotes the legal profession, and builds public understanding of the legal system. She has been involved in State Bar work for almost a decade and has served on many of its committees and groups. She has served on the SBM Board of Commissioners since 2011, and has served as treasurer, secretary, vice president, and president-elect. She has also served on the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly.
A frequent speaker and published author, Ms. Grieco is past president of the Oakland County Bar Association, after serving as a member of the OCBA Board of Directors for six years. She also served as president of the Oakland County Region of the Women Lawyers Association and Chair of the OCBA New Lawyers Committee. While president of the OCBA, she oversaw the installation of the Pro Bono Mentor Match program, which won the LexisNexis Community Education Outreach Award, and the State Bar of Michigan Kimberly M. Cahill Bar Leadership Award. Grieco has also received many other accolades and awards for her volunteer work, including the Legal Aid and Defender Association Pro Bono Service Award, OCBA Michael E. Lee Memorial Award Recognizing Diversity, being named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly Women in the Law, and being named to Crain’s Detroit Business 40 under 40.
