On October 19, 2017, Jennifer was presented with the Michael K. Lee Memorial Award by the Oakland County Bar Association at the Taste of Diversity event, for her “commitment and tireless work in diversity programs.”
The Michael K. Lee awarded was created in 2014 to recognize attorney and OCBA board member Michael K. Lee’s commitment to diversity in the legal profession, his unwavering commitment to promoting participation in the activities and governance of the OCBA by lawyers representing a full array of diversity and his personal commitment to supporting, mentoring and promotion new lawyers. The award recognizes a recipient who not only expresses a desire to achieve diversity in the legal profession but who actively works in pipeline programs committed to introducing individuals representing every aspect of diversity to the legal position.
Her nominator pointed out that Jennifer is “always the first person to go to bat when she sees that women or other minorities are not being nominated for leadership positions that they deserve. Her work at the State Bar always challenges people who want to ignore that diversity programs are needed and she fights hard to make sure that difficult conversations regarding same occur.”
